What’s so special about Hotwire Towel Rails?
Hotwire Ladder Towel Rails include a timer built into every rail! (Except the V2 and FS7) You can turn on the rail with the press of a button and then set it to run for 2 or 4 hours. As the towel rail heats up in minutes, simply turn it on when you get in the shower and the towel will be warm by the time you are finished. Leave it on (with the timer) for either 2 or 4 hours and the towel will dry.
What will my Hotwire Heated Towel Rail cost to run?
This obviously depends on your electricity tariff and how long you run your towel rail. However, in most places in Australia, you would not expect to pay more than 1-2 cents per hour. Most are around the same cost as a light globe.

All our heated towel rails are made from solid stainless steel and are not chrome plated.
How do I connect my Hotwire Heated Towel Rail?
There are several ways to connect your Hotwire Heated Towel Rail:
1) All of our rails include a concealed wiring adaptor. This enables you to connect your towel rail with no visible wires.
2) All of our rails are fitted with a plug and can simply be plugged into a power point.

How do I install my Hotwire Heated Towel Rail?
Installation instructions are included in the package. You will need to get an Electrician to complete the installation for you if you are concealing the power cable. See the video on the home page to see how Hotwire Towel Rails are connected.

Will my towel rail heat my bathroom?
Hotwire Heated Towel rails are not designed to be room heaters. We recommend Hotwire Floor Heating for your Bathroom heating requirements. See the floor heating tab for further information.

Can I put my Hotwire Heated Towel on a timer?
Our Towel Rails have a built in timer so there is no need to connect an external one! If you are using another brand of towel rail we offer a Dual Thermostat so you can run it on a schedule.
Low-Voltage Rails
Can I connect my Hotwire single rails to a timer?
Absolutely, you need to check the total load (watts) of the towel rails and the capacity of the timer but typically multiple rails can be wired on a single timer. Bear in mind that all the rails will then be on or off at the same time.
The Hotwire Towel Rail timer can be connected to multiple towel rails. Most people don’t use more than 4 rails, but the timer has the capacity to connect even more if required.
What is the difference between 240Volt and 12Volt Heated Towel rails.
12v towel rails must be connected to a transformer. (With Hotwire rails this transformer is included with every rail.) As they are low voltage they can also be installed closer to a shower or wet area.
240v Towel Rails are not connected to a transformer and, depending on the IP rating, need to be further from a shower. They can also be simply plugged into a PowerPoint.
Is there a temperature difference between 12v and 240v rails?
No, it is the wattage that affects the towel rail temperature not the voltage.
Will a heated towel rail take the chill off my bathroom?
Not really, no. There may be some ambient heat that is achieved but they are not going to heat the room. You need Hotwire floor heating for that.
Do I need a timer?
There are lots of variables that can affect this, such as the size of the towels, location of the towel rails etc.
Generally you can expect your towels to be warm within a couple of hours.
